Ganesh Anandan was born and raised in Bangalore, South India, where he studied Karnatic flute under the tutorship of G. Venugopal and the mrdangam with K. K. Parthasarthy. After completing university (B. com) in 1976 he moved to Canada where he studied western classical music theory and ethnomusicology (Gamelan music). He took part in a variety of percussion workshops including the bodhran and tar with Glen Velez (USA) and the tamurrelo and tammurriata with Carlo Rizzo (Italy). Ganesh was awarded several grants from The Canada Arts Council and Le Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec for artistic projects and
studies. On one such grant, he had long term studies with T. N. Shashikumar at the renowned Karnataka College of Percussion in Bangalore studying the tavil, a ritual two-sided drum and the kanjira, a South-Indian tambourine.

As a composer, improviser and creator of original instruments, Ganesh Anandan is an extraordinary percussion explorer specializing in his own finger drumming language he likes to call Fingerworks. He freely combines his native South- Indian drumming techniques with those of popular and contemporary musical aesthetics. He transposed the karnatic drumming techniques to frame drums and wrote an educational book, titled Solkattu. In 1996, he built a series of percussion instruments based on the Indian 22-shruti system (22 intervals)

with the help of sculptor and woodworker Nicholas Monroe. The double experience of Canada and India has styled and woven the ensemble of his work.

As an independent artist Ganesh Anandan’s artistic itinerary is eclectic and remarkable. Besides his contribution to film and theatre creations, he has composed and performed with:

* Autofocus camera
* GMote - use it as a mouse/keyboard for Windows/Linux http://androidcommunity.com/forums/107205-post38.html
* Just one checkbox to install non-official apps

== Possibilities ==

* Multi-touch http://lukehutch.wordpress.com/2009/01/25/get-multi-touch-support-on-your-t-mobile-g1-today/
* Hacking - http://phandroid.com/2009/05/08/g1-specs-leak-could-mean-developer-hacking-heaven/ For example, can you currently do TV Out with your G1? Nope. But did you know that the chip in the G1 DOES allow for TV out and it simply isn’t wired? Now you do. Access to these specs will allow the hacking geniuses of the world (nods to XDA Devs) to enable things like USB-OTG, USB-HOST, TV-OUT, Bootloader Hacks and Radio Hacking.
** USB host mode - http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=738

With all this potential, it would be really nice if Android and the hrdware were really open. Maybe if 10000 people kicked in $100 each, it could be explored.

== Drawbacks ==

* No call recorder http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2117
us Google market has apps that allow call rec. - aRecorder is one - are they not avail on Rogers?
* <s>Clunky hardware, "chin" interferes with keyboard</s>
* no LED
* Poor camera quality
* "Special" headphone connector (required dongle)
* Can't listen to wired headphones and charge at the same time
* Battery life?!??!?!!! http://gizmodo.com/5132895/seidio-2600-mah-jumbo-battery-pack-turns-your-g1-morbidly-obese
* No light sensor, have to adjust between battery consumption and being able to see in sunlight
